Come Out Clean, Silence Kogi Governor, Others – Austin Okai Tackles EFCC

A Kogi-born political activist, Comrade Austin Usman Okai, has questioned the “nonchalant attitude of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) towards tackling the 20 billion Naira bailout funds saga involving the Kogi State Government.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Okai said with continued denials from Governor Yahaya Bello-led Kogi state government, the onus lies on EFCC to produce “hard facts” on the controversial bailout account.

“EFCC, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), should compel Sterling Bank to disclose the particulars of actual depositor and those who authorized the opening of the account.

“Yahaya Bello may be hiding under the obnoxious immunity clause, but failure to investigate the Finance Commissioner and State Accountant General who jointly committed this impunity is a huge credit to Bello’s recent uproar.

“We must Begin to ask questions as we are no longer ready to be brainwashed by either party,” he said.

Okai called on the Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to salvage his reputation by “shaming those responsible without considering whose ox is gored.”
