Okene Council Chairman Debunks Kidnap Video Report by a Bus Passenger

The Chairman of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, Abdulrazaq Muhammad has debunked the report of gunmen attack in Okene where five passengers were reportedly kidnapped.

Recall that a lady passenger, in a video report which has gone viral, claimed that passengers in her bus were kidnapped by gunmen.

She narrated that the driver of the commercial vehicle was kidnapped, and one of the passengers left behind had to take the wheel.

Reacting in a press statement signed by his media aide, Abdulmumin Abubakar, the Chairman said; he mobilized security men upon receipt of the information, but discovered no such event happened.

“The Council Chairman immediately mobilized security men including local vigilantes and community leaders to trace all entry and exit points down to the local government borders with other state or sister council areas so as to verify the veracity of the video message and act accordingly.

“After careful security checks, the chairman wish to state categorically that no such event took place within Okene Local Government even in the last 48hours.

“The Chairman hereby urge the general public to disregard the video message and go about their normal lawful businesses but be vigilant and report any security information at their disposal to the nearest security outfit or directly to the office of the Chairman, Okene Local Government,“ he said.
