The Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, is set to hear the N30bn lawsuit filed by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) against Meta Platforms Incorporated, the owners of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp platforms, along with its agent AT3 Resources Limited.
ARCON is seeking a declaration that the publication of unvetted advertisements on Facebook and Instagram targeted at the Nigerian market is illegal and a violation of Nigerian advertising laws.
The case is scheduled for October, and ARCON aims to address issues related to indecent content and revenue loss due to unregulated advertising practices.
