6 More Kidnapped CUSTECH Students Rescued in Kogi State

The Kogi State Government has successfully rescued six additional students who were kidnapped, making a total of twenty students rescued so far. The announcement came from Kingsley Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information, in a statement released on Tuesday.

According to Commissioner Fanwo, there are still four students missing following the incident. He detailed that a fierce gun battle occurred between the security forces and the kidnappers, leading to the kidnappers being overpowered and forced to release the students. He noted that some kidnappers managed to escape but sustained severe injuries during the encounter.

Last Thursday, the police reported that 14 students had already been rescued. The families of the six students who were most recently freed have confirmed their safe return home.

Kogi State’s Governor, Usman Ododo, expressed his gratitude towards the Joint Forces responsible for the rescue operations and encouraged the continuation of efforts to find and rescue the remaining students. He also reassured the public that measures are being taken to enhance the security around schools, including the implementation of an efficient early warning system to prevent similar incidents in the future.
