Apple Set to Release Slimmer iPhone in 2025

Apple is set to launch a slimmer version of the iPhone by 2025, according to a report published on Friday. This new model, likely to be priced higher than the current iPhone Pro Max, is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 17 in September 2025.

The Cupertino, California-based company is currently testing various designs for the device, which is codenamed D23. The slimmer iPhone may feature Apple’s latest-generation processor, anticipated to be named the A19.

This development comes as Apple seeks to enhance its flagship product amidst fierce competition from Chinese brands Honor and Huawei, and global rival Samsung Electronics. According to International Data Corporation, Samsung held the largest share of the smartphone market in the first quarter of 2024 with 20.8%, followed by Apple at 17.3%. Apple’s iPhone sales fell by 10.5% to $45.96 billion in the fiscal second quarter.

Additionally, Apple plans to discontinue the iPhone Plus model and introduce a more affordable successor to the iPhone SE in spring 2025.

This news follows Apple’s recent unveiling of the latest iPad Pro, which features a new chip designed for artificial intelligence computing, as the company strives to keep pace with other major tech firms in the AI technology race.
