The Kogi State House of Assembly has recalled the suspended Chairman of Okene Local Government Area, Abdulrazaq Muhammad from suspension.

The Chairman was suspended by the Lawmakers in November 2021, following allegations of undue arrest and intimidation.

Muhammad had been in suspension for over seven months, while the Vice-Chairperson, Bilikisu Jimoh acted pending the conclusion of investigation by the House.

We learnt he was called back to resume office on the Thursday plenary of the Assembly.

Confirming the development, media aide to the Chairman, Abdulmumin Abubakar wrote:

The suspended Executive Chairman of Okene LG, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has been recalled back to office by the Kogi State House of Assembly.

We appreciate your support & prayers 🙏🙏

Recall that the suspension followed a communication from the office of the Governor to the House, hence the resolve to set up a committee to investigate the allegations.

After the reports of his suspension, Muhammad in a press statement said that he was innocent of the allegations, urging anyone with verifiable evidence to assist the Lawmakers and the Department of State Service (DSS) in their investigation.

“I want to humbly and respectfully appreciate the efforts, loyalty and cooperation of all my cabinet members, His Royal Majesty, Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, traditional rulers, ward heads and community leaders for their unflinching support, advice and in some cases deployed their personal resources to make Okene Local Government a peaceful place to live.

“I thank the general public both within and outside Okene local government council for the show of love, support and solidarity. I urge you all to remain calm as we all await the outcome of the investigations,” he said.
