Mr. Mustapha Ahmed, Director General of NEMA, confirmed the alert, stating that communities along the banks of River Benue in these states may face flooding until the end of October.

The rapid water release has already displaced communities, leading to potential damage to crops and infrastructure.

The affected areas are urged to activate their emergency response plans to mitigate potential losses. As of now, 159,157 people have been affected by this year’s flooding, with 28 fatalities and 48,168 individuals displaced across 13 states in Nigeria.

NEMA will provide further updates as more situation reports are received from relevant agencies.
