In a disturbing incident, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted an unspecified number of individuals working with Dangote Cement Company Plc in Okpella, Etsako West local government area of Edo state. The victims were traveling back to the Okpella community in a coaster bus after finishing their work when the gunmen ambushed them, forcing the bus to a halt at gunpoint.

Reports indicate that the gunmen emerged from the bush, brandishing firearms, and forcibly took the victims into the surrounding forest. Some individuals reportedly sustained bullet wounds during the ordeal.

While details regarding the exact number of workers abducted remain unclear, a source within the Okpella community confirmed the incident. However, the specific number of kidnapped workers could not be confirmed.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the police proved unsuccessful, as calls to both the Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, and the command spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, went unanswered.

The abduction of Dangote Cement workers in Edo state underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by residents and businesses in the region, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.
