JAMB Releases Additional 36,540 UTME Results After Investigation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made another significant release of 36,540 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, previously withheld for further scrutiny. This latest release follows the earlier unveiling of 531 results, bringing the total count to 1,879,437 outcomes now available to candidates.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor of the Board, disclosed this update in a statement issued in Abuja. In addition to releasing the results, the Board addressed a fraudulent letter circulating on social media. The letter falsely claimed that the outstanding 2024 UTME results were compromised due to a cyber security breach, leading to considerations of rescheduling the examination. JAMB clarified that the letter was fabricated and lacked authenticity, aiming to mislead candidates and potentially extort them.

JAMB reaffirmed the integrity of its examination processes, emphasizing that the results are securely stored and cannot be hacked. Following the initial release of the 2024 UTME results, certain outcomes were withheld for further investigation, with 531 results recently cleared. Those implicated in examination malpractice are still under scrutiny, with the Board meticulously reviewing CCTV footage from accredited centers to determine culpability.

The Board cautioned the public against misinformation from unofficial sources, including religious organizations, urging them to rely on official announcements. Additionally, JAMB clarified misconceptions regarding the determination of ‘cut-off marks,’ emphasizing that these are collectively agreed upon by Heads of Institutions during the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions. Institutions themselves propose minimum admissible scores, subject to broader consensus.

In conclusion, JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and urged all stakeholders to adhere to established guidelines and procedures.
