NAHCON Chairman Urges Muslims to Maintain Resilience During Ramadan

As Muslims worldwide commence the annual Ramadan fast, Jalal Arabi, the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), underscores the importance of perseverance and faith amidst the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.

The declaration of the first day of Ramadan, falling on Monday, March 11, 2024, was made by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar. This announcement followed the sighting of the moon in various parts of the country on the preceding Sunday, which marked the 29th day of the Month of Shaban.

“We received reports from Muslim leaders across the nation confirming the sighting of the moon, and we acknowledge and accept this sighting accordingly,” stated Sa’ad Abubakar.

In his Ramadan message, Arabi urged Muslims to persevere through the challenges, emphasizing that faith entails recognizing Allah’s wisdom in all aspects of life, even in times of hardship and hunger.

Arabi’s message conveyed, “As the sacred month of Ramadan commences, I extend heartfelt Ramadan Mubarak greetings on behalf of the Board members, management, and staff of NAHCON to our fellow Nigerian Muslims. During this period of reflection and devotion, we at NAHCON stress the profound importance of resilience and faith in overcoming challenges.”

Additionally, while extending greetings for the Holy month, Arabi encouraged Muslims to embrace the spirit of Ramadan, viewing the country’s challenges as opportunities for personal growth and spiritual advancement.

“We urge all Nigerian Muslims to wholeheartedly embrace the essence of Ramadan, recognizing that adversities present opportunities for spiritual growth. May this month bring blessings, peace, and a renewed sense of determination to everyone,” Arabi affirmed.
