Warri-Itakpe Train Service to Resume Operations Today

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri-Itakpe train service to resume operations on today, Monday July 8, 2024. This comes after a temporary suspension due to a derailment at the Abraka railway station.

In a statement released on Sunday and signed by Yakub Mahmood, NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, the corporation confirmed the resumption date and provided additional information for passengers. The NRC stated that travellers can book their tickets online starting from July 7 or in person at the stations from July 8.

“The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) hereby informs the general public, especially our valued passengers, that the train services (WITS) will resume operation on Monday, July 8, 2024, after the temporary suspension of train operations along the route due to a train derailment at Abraka Railway station,” the statement reads.

The NRC also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the derailment and the subsequent suspension of service. The incident occurred on July 4 at approximately 7:15 pm while the train was traveling from Itakpe in Kogi to Ujevwu in Delta, prompting the NRC to suspend the Warri-Itakpe rail service on July 5.
