Digital Literacy

This programme (Digital Literacy) which was executed by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy in conjunction with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) occurred concurrently in three other locations aside Kogi Central Senatorial District.

These are Gombe, Suleja and Ogbomosho respectively. Indeed, it is a rare privilege that we are beneficiaries of this life-changing digital training.
Ladies and gentlemen, I could easily dole out cash, material things and other freebies of little importance instead of lobbying for this skills that you have acquired in the last five days, but it will be a huge disservice to me and antithetical to my avowed decision to cause generational positive imprint in your lives.

Again, I know you are all ready to engage in productive ventures and contribute your quota to the economic development of Kogi Central and Nigeria at large but required an opportunity like this that will propel you. Your yearnings will continue to be a guide to my legislative duties at the Senate.

The training, no doubt, has been tedious but we all must brace up to leverage on digital technology for self-reliance and national development. A skill acquired and well utilized has many positive ripple effects. It is somehow contagious and can spin cash as long as you practice it. In our clime where jobs in the formal sector seem saturated, we all have to embrace skill acquisition of this nature which has lasting impacts.

This has informed my decision to considerably focus on training the minds of our youths and reorientate them on how to be job creators instead of job seekers. On this, we have succeeded in training hundreds of our youths last year within available resources and we are not going to stop. This type of life-changing training is continuous until all communities in Kogi Central are touched.

Therefore, I encourage you all to exhibit practical manifestation of what you have learnt in the past five days. The start up kits are meant for you to continue with the practical that you have been drilled on, don’t monetise them. Even as you depart today, establish a clique of contact and continue to ask questions on the areas that seem gloomy until you’re perfect at doing it. Learning is a continuous process. Start little and in months to come, you will be grateful to God to have started in a humble way. God bless you all.
