The chairman of Okene Local Government have promised to arrest those involved in the k*illing of a mad man for alleged disappearing two kids with handkerchief in Okengwe, Kogi State.

On Sunday August 7, 2022, Ebira Online Media had reported the case of a mad man who was caught for alleged disappearing two kids with a handkerchief in Okengwe, Okene Kogi State.

Also, Recall that Ebira Online Media had previously reported that some angry mobs in Okengwe k*illed and burnt down a mad man to ashes for alleged disappearing two kids with handkerchief in Okene Kogi State.

In a post made in his official Facebook handle, it states;

The attention of Okene Local Government Chairman, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has been drawn to an alleged mob attack and murder of a mentally derailed man by some criminals in Okengwe axis of Okene Local Government on Sunday 7th August, 2022.

The man was accused by some youths of the community for being a ritualist who uses diabolic means to kidnap people especially children and without recourse to the laws of the land or inform the appropriate government officials, the youths acted on this fake information to execute the alleged criminal and burn him to ashes before the arrival of security agencies.

On Monday 8th August 2022, the Council Chairman directed security agencies to carry out investigation on the unfortunate incidence while the District head of Okengwe, some ward heads and community leaders were invited to make statements for their negligence of responsibilities.

However, preliminary investigation indicate that the information that led to the murder of the man was fake. Further investigation will revealed the identities of all those who masterminded the jungle justice and will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Youths of Okene local government and the general public are hereby caution on the spread of fake news. People are advised to verify every security information and reports same to government for appropriate action.
