Cautions Okada riders against actions that can undermine Gov. Yahaya Bello’s huge investment in the peace of the state.

The Chairman of Adavi local government council, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami, has brokered a truce between commercial motorcycle riders and the Kogi Central Union of Okada Riders, in the ongoing face-off between the two parties.

At a peace parley convened by the council Chairman in Ogaminana on Wednesday, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami said the rift will affect citizens negatively.

He urged the leaderships of Okada riders to be transparent, put their personal interest aside, and always discharge their duty diligently in the interest of the association and people they are representing.

The Council Boss, while addressing the issues, warned every association in Kogi Central to act in line with the policy of the government at all levels.

He added that “the present administration, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has invested a lot to sustain peace across twenty-one local governments in Kogi state, and the government will never condone any form of nuisance from any individual, group of people or association.”

“It is very important that you all know your boundaries and the extent you can push. Don’t hold any form of gathering that can truncate the peace of the land, be mindful of your activity and cooperate with the government authorities. You should seek redress first, channel your complaints to appropriate quarters, and don’t just go through touts.”

Hon. Joseph Omuya, however, commended the efforts and cooperation of Okada riders in Adavi LGA, adding that the level of their cooperation and the support they have given his administration is highly commendable.

“It is said that commendation is a motivation to do more. The Adavi chapter of Okada Riders Union is highly coordinated and failure to acknowledge that will be a mistake on our part. They are greatly appreciated and I urge them to keep being good,” the council boss said.
